General Questions

What is ZYNQO?
ZYNQO is an AI-powered online proctored examination platform that enables educational institutions to conduct secure, remotely-monitored exams. The platform uses real-time face detection, phone recognition, tab-switch monitoring, and anti-screenshot technology to maintain exam integrity — all running locally in the student's browser for maximum privacy.
Who is ZYNQO designed for?
ZYNQO is built for schools, colleges, universities, coaching institutes, corporate training programs, and any organisation that needs to conduct secure assessments online. It is used by educators, proctors and institutional administrators running assessments remotely.
Is ZYNQO free to use?
Yes! ZYNQO offers a free Starter plan that includes up to 30 students per exam, 5 exams per month, AI face detection, tab-switch monitoring, and instant auto-grading for MCQ questions. No credit card is required. For larger institutions, we offer Professional (₹2,999/mo) and Enterprise (₹9,999/mo) plans with additional features. See our Pricing page for details.
Do students need to install any software?
No. ZYNQO runs entirely in the web browser — no downloads, plugins, or browser extensions are required. Students simply open the ZYNQO website, enter their exam credentials, and begin. This makes it compatible with virtually any device including Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS.

Taking an Exam

How do I join an exam as a student?
  1. Go to zynqo.in
  2. Enter the Exam ID and your Registration ID (provided by your institution)
  3. Click "Secure Login"
  4. Complete the pre-exam checklist (camera, audio, window size)
  5. Wait for the proctor to start the session
  6. Take the exam and submit when done
What devices and browsers are supported?
Use an up-to-date browser and rehearse on the actual device. Camera, microphone, fullscreen and monitoring features depend on browser permissions and device support. A desktop or laptop may provide more working space, but a successful practice session is the useful compatibility check.
What happens if my internet disconnects during the exam?
Answers are sent to Firebase during the exam. Rejoining can restore successfully saved answers, but unsynced changes may be lost. Contact your proctor if saving or submission fails. Use a practice exam to test recovery before a graded sitting.
Can I go back to previous questions?
Within a section, you can navigate between questions freely using the Previous and Next buttons. However, once a timed section expires or you move to the next section, you cannot return to previous sections. This is a common exam security measure to prevent students from modifying answers after seeing later questions.

Security & Privacy

What security measures does ZYNQO use?
ZYNQO employs multiple layers of security:
  • AI Face Detection: Real-time monitoring using TinyFaceDetector to verify the student is present and alone.
  • Phone Detection: COCO-SSD object recognition to detect mobile phones in the camera frame.
  • Tab-Switch Monitoring: Detects when students switch browser tabs or minimise the window.
  • Copy Deterrents: Exam-page blur, watermarks, copy restrictions, and print styles discourage casual copying. A website cannot reliably block operating-system screenshots or external cameras. See the capture protection guide.
  • Anti-Copy Protection: Blocks text selection, right-click context menus, and keyboard shortcuts for copy/paste.
  • Window Checks: Window-size and focus checks can highlight changes, but do not establish whether another application is being used.
Is my webcam footage stored on your servers?
The current browser exam processes media locally and does not include an audio/video recording-upload flow. Answers, identifiers and monitoring events are still stored in Firebase. Read the privacy policy and ask the institution about access and retention.
What data does ZYNQO collect?
The exam records identifiers, answers, timestamps and monitoring events. When enabled, media permission allows local camera and sound-level processing. A face-presence check does not establish legal identity. The privacy policy explains the data categories and local browser storage.
What happens if the AI incorrectly flags me for a violation?
Tell your proctor what happened and note the time. A configured violation limit can submit the exam automatically, so institutions should explain that setting in advance. Alerts may be wrong and do not establish misconduct. The institution must review context, accommodations and any appeal.

For Proctors & Administrators

How do I create an exam?
Log in to the Proctor Dashboard, navigate to the Exam Builder, and create your exam by adding sections and questions. Supported question types include Multiple Choice (MCQ), True/False, and Short Answer. You can set individual timers per section, enable question randomisation, and configure scoring. Once created, share the generated Exam ID with your students.
Can I import questions from a spreadsheet?
The exam builder provides bulk text import with a displayed question format. Prepare a small sample, paste it into that importer and check the question text, options and answer keys before importing a whole paper. The batch-management importer handles class batches separately; it is not a question spreadsheet mapping wizard.
How do I monitor students during the exam?
The Proctor Dashboard provides a real-time view of all connected students showing: online/offline status, violation counts by type (tab switches, face alerts, phone detections), progress through the exam, and session metadata. You can also pause the exam for all students if needed and view live violation feeds.
Can I export results to Google Sheets?
The exam builder offers a CSV export of student results. You can import that file into a spreadsheet application such as Google Sheets. Check the exported fields and sharing permissions before distributing student information.

Technical Requirements

What are the minimum system requirements?
  • Browser: Chrome 80+, Firefox 78+, Safari 14+, or Edge 80+
  • Internet: 1 Mbps minimum (2+ Mbps recommended)
  • Webcam: Any functioning camera (built-in or external)
  • RAM: 2 GB minimum (4 GB recommended for AI features)
  • JavaScript: Must be enabled
  • Cookies: Must be enabled for session management
Does ZYNQO work on iPhones and iPads?
Yes. ZYNQO supports iOS devices running Safari 14 or later. The platform automatically detects iPadOS "Desktop Mode" and adjusts security checks accordingly. Note that iPhones do not support the Fullscreen API, so ZYNQO uses alternative "Immersive Mode" features on iOS. For iPads, we recommend using Safari in full-screen for the best experience.
What if my webcam doesn't work?
If ZYNQO cannot access your webcam (due to permissions, hardware issues, or an insecure connection), you'll see an option to "bypass and login in Limited Mode." In Limited Mode, the exam proceeds without AI face detection, but your proctor will be notified that you're in reduced-security mode. Tab-switch monitoring and other protections remain active.
